Scolding or Punishing your dog. Dogs have few cognitive reasoning skills. Hitting or yelling at your dog will most likely result in confusion for your pet and not correction. So even if you are frustrated, don't ever hit, smack, or abuse your pet either physically or verbally. If you've done this and cause problems with your potty training efforts, STOP IT NOW and move forward after promising you will NEVER do this kind of behavior again.
