TIP #1
When a dog has an average vocabulary of about 30 words or so they understand, you don't want to waste 10% or more of her understood words just so you can use different commands.

This tip is.. Use Single Word Commands and use them consistently. We're not talking about commands all being a single word in the literal sense here. Going outside is a good command, going potty, go potty, bathroom break, etc. are all perfectly acceptable commands if used consistently.

Don't use go potty one time, then bathroom break the next and Go out and go pee, the next and expect your canine to quickly understand what you want them to do.



TIP#2
Consistent behavior is Important. That's YOUR behavior not your dogs. Both puppies and adult dogs respond much more positively to a consistent schedule than to a hit and miss one. Know your pups schedule and use it to your advantage. Do they get up and prefer to eat right away? If so, right after eating, take them outside to urinate.

Eating presses on the bladder and causes them to want to go. Take your puppy outside and let them go so you can give them loads of praise. This is important because you want your puppy to remember outside-bathroom-and your happiness all in one thought.


TIP#3
Never yell or show anger toward your canine. While modern dogs are related to wild pack animals, they also have a need to be close with their human pack. Hitting with a newspaper, yelling in anger, or acting in a threatening manner toward your canine will result in them becoming jumpy and cautious around you. It will NOT help with your house training efforts however.

TIP#4
A dog crate is not for storing your pet. Crate Training is about control of your pet when they're indoors. Unless you can watch your canine whenever they're roaming free, they need to be securely confined in the crate. Night and day, you need to remain in control.


Keeping your canine under control means either watching her every minute or confining her in her cage. What you want to keep your puppy involved with what you're doing in the house but not allowing her to roam free is an important key to successful Dog house dog training or getting your pup to become completely and reliably house trained.
